Eclipse Setup for Android

I will cover installation procedure for both ubuntu and windows OS.. basically you need a working Java development kit, Eclipse IDE and a patch of Eclipse for Android:

Ubuntu:

JDK Installation:
For installation of JDK for Linux
1. Copy the bin Fileto home directory
2. in Terminal write down “chmod <jdk bin file name>.bin”
3. to execute it “.\<jdk bin file name>.bin”

Eclipse Extracting:
Copy and extract the eclipse zip file at home directory.

SDK for Android Extraction:
Copy and extract the ANDROID SDK zip file at home directory.(rename extracted directory for future use)

Setting Path Variable For Eclipse:
To run eclipse first need to append the Path Variable for Java linking
1. open terminal and edit “.bashrc” file. To do this write down “nano .bashrc”
2. In the editor mode write down this in any where in the file
“export PATH=${PATH}:/<loaction of java e.g /../../bin>”

Updating Eclipse from Archive File:
1.In the help menu then update Software, create a new site(local/ from archive)
2.Browse the location of the Zip Archive file

Setting Path Variable For Android SDK:
To run eclipse first need to append the Path Variable for Java linking
1. open terminal and edit “.bashrc” file. To do this write down “nano .bashrc”
2. In the editor mode write down this in any where in the file
“export PATH=${PATH}:/<loaction of Android SDK e.g /../../tools>”

Browsing Android SDK:
1. From the “window”, choose “Preferences”.
2. In the “Preferences” window, select “Android” in the menu on the left.
3. On the right, click “Browse”, find the location of the Android SDK.

Windows Xp:

1. Install JDK from http://developers.sun.com/downloads/
2. Unzip the rar been downloaded from Eclpise.org. This will make the Eclipse IDE running.
3. Unzip the rar of Android SDK. And also rename Folder to SDK.
4. Run Eclipse, Inside “help” select “Software Updates..”
5. select “Avialble Softwares”, and add a new site by click “Add Site” button.
6. Enter “https://dl-ssl.google.com/android/eclipse/&#8221; as the url and click ok.
7. Now select the new option created due to it.
8. and then Press Enter Button.. this will take take to get install from internet.
9. From the “window”, choose “Preferences”.
10. In the “Preferences” window, select “Android” in the menu on the left. On the right , click “Browse”, find the location of the Android SDK.
11. Right-click MyComputer and select “Properties”, Click the “Advanced tab”.
12. Click “Environment Variables”. Select “PATH” System Variable and edit it.
13. concatenate”…..;C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_16\bin\;C:\sdk” and click ok.
14. Restart Eclipse, Now you are ready to run Android programs on your Eclipse IDE.
